Maslin takes over the reins of SELX

An experienced sales manager with a long history of livestock management and experience as a livestock agent, Rick Maslin has taken over the reins as Manager of the South Eastern Livestock Exchange (SELX).

Aiming to expand the footprint of livestock being sold at SELX, Rick is using the strong foundation established since SELX commenced trading over 18 months ago.

“The day to day operation of the yards has been established with a solid foundation and we have reached a point where we can work closely with our agents to actively attract more livestock to the facility,” said Rick.

“Upon opening, the facility anticipated trading 100,000 cattle and 1.2 million sheep annually. We have a fantastic opportunity to increase our trading numbers and also introduce new vendors to our world-class facility,” continued Rick.

After an extensive recruitment period SELX Chairman, Rowena Abbey is excited about the future with Rick at the helm.

“Rick’s extensive experience in the livestock industry across a number of different facets including animal health, sales and livestock management will bring new skills to our team,” said Rowena.

“His fresh approach will build on the fantastic work already achieved by staff which will take SELX to the next level in a highly competitive market.”

Rick officially commenced in the Manager role on Monday 5th March, after experiencing and learning the operation of sale days from the sidelines in February.
