Market Report – 15 March

Total Yarding:  1186

There was only a slight increase in numbers and the quality was fair to good. Yearlings made up the bulk of the yarding and feeders purchased most which include a larger offering of heavy weights in forward condition. Prime grown steers and bullocks were well back in numbers and around 220 cows were offered.

Light restocking weaner steers sold to 328c and plain light heifers made 278c/kg. Medium weight steers were 8c dearer to feeder orders and the better covered heavy weights lifted 14c with medium and heavy weights selling from 260c to 296c/kg. Medium weight feeder heifers were 4c dearer from 250c to 275c/kg. Heavy trade steers and heifers were limited and eased 5c to 8c to sell from 252c to 289c/kg.

Grown steers to process were back 6c selling between 246c and 265c/kg. Medium weights 2 score cows were up to 20c cheaper selling from 140c to 190c and the heavy 3 and 4 scores declined 13c to 15c to sell from 170c to 215c/kg to averaged 200c/kg.
