Market Report – 15 February

Total Yarding: 1,489

Numbers lifted and the quality was similar with plenty of young cattle for the feeders and restockers, but there were a few more heavy weights suited to the trade. Grown steers were in short supply and a run of 250 cows were penned. All the usual buyers operated in an easier market.

Light restocking weaner steers reached 335c and heifers 318c/kg. Medium weight feeder steers held firm and heavy weights were back 2c to 4c/kg on average and made from 255c to 295c/kg. Feeder heifers were also 2c to 4c cheaper on the medium and heavy weights but declined 11c on lighter weights and received 232c to 272c/kg. Trade cattle eased 7c to 9c selling from 245c to 280c/kg.

Grown steers eased 9c on the smaller run to average 255c/kg. Heavy grown heifers were back 6c to 10c selling from 238c to 265c/kg. Medium weight 2 score cows eased 4c to make from 166c to 182c and heavy weights eased 10c on average selling between 172c and 202c to average 195c/kg.
